According to Bloomberg, Spotify is expected to make an important announcement in the coming weeks regarding its online music streaming service, especially for the free part of the platform. Improvements should be made to offer mobile users a better experience of the Spotify app and therefore the service becomes more general.
The goal is obviously to attract more and more free users, have the idea of obviously convert them later on a paid offer. That for 2018, Spotify would target 96 million paying users.
The total number of users of the platform should reach 203 million by the end of the year, this is in any case what analysts expect. Spotify would then make a leap of more than 30 million compared to 2017.
So to seduce this audience, but also attract new users to the free version of the service that the Nordic giant would have in his box of important changes to come, especially concerning the app on iOS and Android. No information on a specific improvement has yet been disclosed, the source of Bloomberg, close to the Swedish company, however, indicates that the latter should make an official announcement of the news in the coming weeks, perhaps even on the day of April 24th.
It is also supported by recent rumors that Spotify would rely on the release of a smart speaker connected in 2018, to walk on the borders of Apple, Amazon and other market players, and try to recover even more subscribers.
Perhaps by the end of the month, we will see a new speaker made by Spotify with major changes to the service in free use.
